Sept 2013: PhD Fellows present at British Association of Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology annual meeting
EUROTAST fellows, Judy Watson, Erna Johannesdottir, Jessica Hendy and Cesar Fortes-Lima delivered podium and poster presentations at the annual meeting of the British Association of Biological Anthropology and Osteoarchaeology (BABAO) at the University of York on the 13th -15th of September 2013. Cesar Fortes-Lima outlined his research on using modern genetic data to reconstruct the history of the communities from French Guiana. Jessica Hendy presented preliminary results from her work on disease and health in the era of the slave trade. Judy Watson and Erna Johannesdottir gave poster presentations, outlining some early methods and results. Demonstrating the value of of interdisciplinary research, Jessica, Judy and Erna also presented a joint poster which outlined how multiple approaches can be applied to understanding an enslaved 19th century population.
